This is an infant Bornean orangutan (Pongo pygmaeus) named Richard who is the son of a wild orangutan, Renie, at Camp Leakey in Tanjung Puting National Park. 51ÉçÇøºÚÁÏPhD Student Researcher Ruth Linsky and OFI research staff followed Richard and Renie through the jungle until they made a night nest. Later that night the team searched for them from above the canopy with a drone mounted thermal camera.

Ecosystem Engineer by Shelby Connelly
Giant California sea cucumbers (Apostichopus californicus) play an important role as bioturbators in temperate rocky reef ecosystems. As deposit feeders, they use their feeding tentacles to mop up detritus, thereby increasing the permeability and oxygen concentration of marine sediments. For her honours research with Dr. Isabelle Côté, Shelby Connelly studied the recolonization of this species following experimental harvest in səl̓ilw̓ət (Indian Arm, British Columbia). We are grateful to conduct our research in the traditional, ancestral, and unceded territory of the səlilwətaɬ (Tsleil-Waututh Nation), who have been stewards of the marine environment since time immemorial.

I am a third-year undergrad student majoring in biology. The photo (Drosera Trichomes) - a microscope photo of my own sundew plant, I took it for the plant physiology portion of BISC 205. We were learning about the role of trichomes and I wanted to get an up-close look to share with my classmates and TA. I was also feeling super inspired because I was learning about proteinases in my MBB course at the same time, so I shared it during that tutorial too :)
