Invisible Battles: Islamophobia, Newcomers, and the Work-Genocide Struggle
Date: Tuesday, September 9, 2025
Time: 11:00AM - 12:30PM
Location: Online, via ZOOM
On September 9, we held a virtual community event that unpacked the emotional, social, and systemic challenges raised in our Voices of the Unseen Project鈥攆rom witnessing genocide from afar, to rebuilding as newcomers, to navigating visibility, safety, and identity amid Islamophobia. This conversation invited us to reflect on how people are coping, resisting, and building resilience while navigating multiple forms of grief and exclusion.
This event was part Voices of the Unseen: Stories of Struggle and Resilience in Multicultural Canada, a youth-led project by Spheres of Influence to explore the lived experiences of Muslims, newcomers, and individuals from conflict-affected regions now living in British Columbia.
