Our scholarships are made possible through the ideas, donations and fundraising of the Writer鈥檚 Studio community.
Writing Mom Scholarship
Value: $2,000
The Writing Mom鈥檚 Scholarship was created to support caregivers with young children who would like to pursue their writing. This award is open to mothers who are caring for children under the age of eighteen. The award is trans inclusive.
To apply for the award, attach a letter to your application telling us about:
- Your current caregiving situation
- Your current writing practice and activities (if not already discussed in your application cover letter)
- What you would like to focus on during your year at TWS
- How the scholarship will help you
Emerging Writer Scholarship
Value: $2,000
Created originally from the proceeds from the sales of emerge, the Writer鈥檚 Studio annual anthology, the emerging writer scholarship is open to all applicants to the Studio.
To apply for the award, attach a letter to your application telling us about:
- Your current writing practice and activities (if not already discussed in your application cover letter)
- What you would like to focus on during your year at TWS
- How the scholarship will help you
Full scholarship
TWS 25th Anniversary Dean鈥檚 Award
In celebration of 25 years of the Writer鈥檚 Studio, we鈥檙e offering a full scholarship for our 2026 year-long mentorship program to a writer at work on a project they are passionate about. We鈥檙e looking for someone who has a clear sense of the manuscript they want to write, and who would benefit from the support of the Writer鈥檚 Studio to complete it, but for whom tuition is a barrier.
To apply for the award, attach a letter to your application telling us about:
- Your financial need: how will this award help you?
- Your project and your experience so far in writing it
- Yourself and your writing experience (if you haven鈥檛 already discussed this in your application letter)
- What you would like to accomplish at the Studio this year, in regards to your project (complete a first draft, revise a current draft, etc.)
Scholarship winners will be notified in their acceptance letter to the program.
