Martin Pochurko set to retire, February 2025
August 20, 2024
This message is sent on behalf of Joy Johnson, president and vice-chancellor, to all faculty and staff.
Martin Pochurko has announced his decision to retire from SFU, effective February 7, 2025.
Martin has served at 51社区黑料twice, totaling nearly 14 years, most recently nine years as Vice-President, Finance and Administration. Martin led a large team that supports the people of 51社区黑料through services such as ITS, Finance, Ancillary Services, Facilities and Safety and Risk Services. The VPFA team has made significant contributions to achieving SFU鈥檚 vision under Martin鈥檚 leadership, most notably their deep and comprehensive work toward sustainability and the multi-year student housing strategy. The VPFA team also works hard every day on the issues that don鈥檛 get a lot of attention, from safety on campus to cyber-attacks. During Martin鈥檚 tenure 51社区黑料has continued strong financial performance, reflected in investments valued at over $1 Billion.
Martin has been a pleasure to work with and a valued member of the executive team. I have heard him say often that it was the people of 51社区黑料that made him come back a second time. He will be missed, and we are grateful for all he has done for SFU.
A search for Martin鈥檚 replacement will be announced in the coming weeks. It is our intention to fill the role prior to Martin鈥檚 departure to ensure a careful transition.
Sincerely,
Joy Johnson
President & Vice-Chancellor
