Dialogue Dispatch: July 9, 2025
Welcome to the fourth issue of Dialogue Dispatch. In this edition, we鈥檙e highlighting resources and strategies for transforming democratic participation in Canada and addressing rising challenges in our democracy.
Enhancing democratic engagement is a central focus of our work at the Centre, and we鈥檝e had many opportunities to see the transformative power of participatory democracy at work. Although Canada is seen as an early adopter of innovations in public participation鈥攊ncluding some of the world鈥檚 first citizens' assemblies that we explored in our previous newsletter鈥攊t is no small task to maintain a strong and stable democracy in a world of rising mis- and dis-information and falling public trust.
As we look around at the serious and growing challenges facing our democracy, we also see increasing evidence supporting the positive impact of participatory democracy. Advancing not only the quantity, but also the quality of public participation initiatives remains a key priority in combatting rising challenges and fostering a healthy democracy.
This month鈥檚 Dialogue Dispatch introduces some of the strategies that are on our radar, with accompanying resources to support their implementation. Stay tuned for even more to come!
