Dialogue Dispatch: September 29, 2025
Welcome to the sixth issue of Dialogue Dispatch. In this edition, we introduce A Maturity Model for Public Participation, endorse the call for a Canadian Democracy Endowment, and share a key resource for mainstreaming public participation.
To advance participatory democracy, it is essential to increase not only the quantity but also the quality of public participation initiatives. This edition of Dialogue Dispatch shares several tools and ideas that can help us enhance the potential of participatory democracy within our organizations and at a societal level This includes introducing our newly launched Maturity Model framework which builds on established principles in the field of public participation to propose common standards for high-quality public participation, helping to ensure that the time and resources invested in engagement deliver processes and outcomes that are meaningful for participants and decision-makers.
We also endorse and share a call for a Canadian Democracy Endowment, remind readers about the opportunity to contribute to our Beyond Inclusion refresh, and share an article from the Democracy and Participation Lead from the Open Government Partnership, Tim Hughes, who lays out seven approaches to mainstreaming public participation.
As always, we invite you to connect with us about news and opportunities for collaboration in your work.
