SFU鈥檚 Faculty of Health Sciences (FHS) and the Canadian Drug Policy Coalition (CDPC) are pleased to announce that after 15 years as a project of SFU, the Coalition will begin operations as an independent not-for-profit organization on March 31, 2026.

Together, FHS and the CDPC have advanced research, policy, and community engagement to address some of the most pressing issues in substance use, human rights and public health. Collaboration on research and policy between the two organizations will continue in this new era, and both FHS and CDPC remain committed to improving health outcomes for people and populations who use substances.

Speaking about the transition, CDPC鈥檚 Director of Communications, Jessica Hannon said: 鈥淥perating as an independent not-for-profit organization will better reflect the national scope of our work and allow us to build transparent and accountable governance structures that support community leadership and impact.鈥

How will this change impact collaboration and research going forward?
