Biography
Dr. Balbir Kaur Gurm is a nationally recognized civic leader, educator, and violence prevention scholar. She is the founder and facilitator of the Network to Eliminate Violence in Relationships (NEVR.org), a coalition of over 50+ organizations working collaboratively to end relationship violence. Her scholarship bridges healthcare, unions, law enforcement, and advocacy groups, always centering survivor voices and intersectional analysis.
Balbir is the founding Editor-in-Chief of Transformative Dialogues: Teaching and Learning Journal, an open-access publication advancing scholarship of teaching and learning. She has served on provincial panels, including the BC Coroner Service Death Review Panel on Intimate Partner Violence, and has contributed to cultural legacy projects documenting South Asian Canadian histories.
