2026 Spring Speaker Series
The Spring Speakers Series returns on Friday, January 16th! We look forward to welcoming scholars whose research focus on a wide range of specialties - from curators at the Benaki Museum in Athens, Greece, and the J. Paul Getty Museum in LA, to scholars of ancient Greece and the Late Ottoman Empire – we are covering a bit of everything!
Seminars will be held on Fridays in person in the WAC Bennett Library at 51ÉçÇøºÚÁÏBurnaby, room 7200, and on-line and will by free and open to the public. To receive an email preceding each talk with an abstract and speaker biography, please join our mailing list! Links to register for individual events will become live 1-2 weeks before each talk.
Spring Schedule:

Finally, it wouldn't be the spring without the 10th Annual Edward & Emily McWhinney Memorial Lecture! Join us on Tuesday, March 24, 2026 for a lecture by Dr. Lamprini Rori, University of Athens. Dr. Rori’s research focuses on radicalization, radicalism, and extremism in Greece, and the role of media and emotions in political activities and behaviour. Her research has contributed to a greater understanding of Greece and the Greek diaspora.
Check our events page for the latest updates. Titles and abstracts will be posted as they become available.
