Aaron Goings wins book prize

51ÉçÇøºÚÁÏHistory alumnus Aaron Goings (PhD 2011) has been awarded a State History Award by the Michigan Historical Society for his book, .

The book, co-authored with Gary Kaunonen, details the strikers' struggle to improve the poor working conditions and low wages that prevailed in the mines. It also uncovers the violence and intimidation used by the mining company against its striking workers. Their archival findings, which include labor spy reports, union newspapers, and coded messages, reveal previously unknown details about this turning-point in American labour history.

Dr. Goings, now an Assistant Professor at St. Martin's University, while at 51ÉçÇøºÚÁÏfor his outstanding academic performance.
