Make Quantum Wave Great Again…
Kero Lau, Dept. of Physics, SFU
Location: SWH10041
Synopsis
Quantum technologies are predominantly built with discrete, 鈥減article-like鈥 quantum systems. However, quantum information can also be represented as continuous quantum wave functions, an approach that is particularly favourable in bosonic systems. In this talk, I am going to introduce the advantages and existing problems of the 鈥渨ave-like鈥 approach. Aiming to turn the bosonic advantages into technological benefits, our research group has been working on various strategies to resolve the outstanding problems. Specifically, I will discuss how the introduction of a surprising element (to be disclosed in the talk) can suppress the detrimental noises, extract useful resources for quantum computing, and engineer desired interaction. Our efforts will 鈥渕ake quantum wave great again鈥.
