The following message is sent on behalf of鈥疜aramjeet Heer, Interim Vice-President, Finance and Administration.
Dear University Community,
51社区黑料is committed to providing a healthy and safe learning, teaching, research and work environment for all members of the university community. The university is updating the University Health and Safety Policy (GP 17) to reduce the risk of injuries and incidents and to ensure ongoing compliance with regulatory requirements.
GP17 applies to all 51社区黑料community members and therefore, policy updates will impact all employees, students and contractors. The policy updates are consistent with the goal of transforming the 51社区黑料experience outlined in SFU鈥檚 What鈥檚 Next Strategy and was last reviewed in 2019.
Proposed policy changes include:
- Clarifying roles and responsibilities related to safety training for all 51社区黑料employees, students and contractors.
- Defining procedures and responsibilities related to impairment in academic and workplace environments.
- While most employees have already taken the mandatory safety training, there may be additional refresher training required.
We invite you to review the proposed policy amendments.
