2026 Capstone and Project Awards
Each year, the School of Public Policy recognizes individuals who have demonstrated remarkable achievements and advancements during their academic journey in the Master of Public Policy (MPP) program. Below are the recipients of the 2025 Capstone and Project Awards.
Master of Public Policy Award
The Master of Public Policy Award recognizes a major research project that exemplifies outstanding public policy research in all respects and application of what has been taught in the program including: problem definition, analytical framework, analysis, specification of policy alternatives and analysis of those alternatives.

Ethical Significance Award
The Ethical Significance Award is given when a major research project touches on social, economic, or political injustices in any policy sphere and exemplifies outstanding analysis.
Husna Tembo: Assessing Gaps in Climate Adaptation and Emergency Planning for Breastfeeding Mothers and Infants in British Columbia

Doug McArthur Prize
This award honors a graduating Master of Public Policy student in recognition of the completion of an outstanding major research project. The research project has the potential to have a lasting impact and influence public policy decisions and actions. It demonstrates skilled and innovative approaches that fully incorporate societal objectives such as efficiency, social justice, freedom of choice, protection against harm, development, and sustainability, as well as government management imperatives such as effectiveness, costs, implementation challenges, stakeholder and public acceptance.
