The Centre for Advanced Imaging operates on a cost-recovery basis. Researchers can find our cost structure and the primary policies governing use of our facilities below.
Cancellations
Cancellation Policy
In the event of a study appointment booked more than 5 days in advance of the appointment date being cancelled, a charge will be made depending on the remaining time before the appointment date as detailed in the following table:

An appointment that is booked within 3 days of the appointment time (a 鈥淪hort Notice Booking鈥�) can be cancelled with as little as 24 hours notice without fee or penalty. If the Short Notice Booking is cancelled with less than 24 hours notice, or the appointment is missed, the appointment will be charged at the rate agreed in the Study Rate Agreement.
To minimize the incidence of charging for cancelled appointments:
- The study PI may request transfer of the booked appointment to another of his or her approved SCAI studies;
- If the canceled appointment time is subsequently booked by another study, there will be no charge to the study that canceled the appointment. SCAI may, at its sole discretion, make reasonable efforts to facilitate such re-booking;
Notwithstanding the foregoing, SCAI makes no guarantee or promise to support avoidance of cancellation charges other than as indicated above, and reiterates that primary responsibility for the cancellation charge stays with the study that originally booked the appointment.
Late Arrivals and No-Shows Policy
Missed or 鈥渘o-show鈥� appointments will be billed the full charge for the booked time.
Causing delays to subsequent appointments is not permitted; late arrival for your booking may therefore result in cancellation of your appointment, and full billing for the booked time. If the study protocol contains instructions or authorization on prioritized scan sequences that permits a partial protocol to be run, a late appointment may proceed within the remaining booked time. This decision will be at the sole discretion of the SCAI Technologist and Operations Director and will be billed at full charge for the booked time.
