Police Strategies and Problem Solving CRIM 408 (3)

Introduces commonly used police strategies. Explores each policing strategy鈥檚: theory, strengths and weaknesses, and whether evidence supports its use. It begins with traditional strategies (e.g., rapid response). It moves to community-oriented (e.g., community policing) and focused approaches (e.g., hotspots policing). Finally, it covers problem-focused strategies (e.g., problem-oriented policing). Prerequisite: CRIM 101. Students with credit for CRIM 318 under the title "Police Strategy & Problem Solving" may not take this course for further credit.
