Assessment of Offenders in the Criminal Justice System CRIM 411 (3)
Critical analysis of offender assessments throughout the Canadian criminal justice system. Evaluating research and policies on validity, reliability, utility, and fairness of current practice. Types of assessment (e.g., risk assessment, psychopathy, criminal responsibility, mental health) and subgroups of offenders (e.g., by gender, race/ethnicity, age, offence type) will vary by term. Prerequisite: CRIM 103 and CRIM 131. Students with credit for CRIM 318 under the title "Forensic Assessment of Offenders" may not take this course for further credit.
