Queer Fandoms GSWS 338 (4)
An examination on gendered and sexual practices in contemporary fan spaces. Explores the ways in which fans read and appropriate popular culture to generate queer meanings, and addresses emergent phenomena such as queer media globalization, fan-industry interactions, and fans鈥� use of social media. Prerequisite: 30 units including three units in GSWS. Students with credit for GSWS 319 under the title "Queer Fandoms" may not take this course for further credit.
