2023-24 Equity Compass and People Plan Annual Reports

I am pleased to present the annual reports for the People Plan and Equity Compass, which demonstrate our progress towards embedding people-centred practices across the organization to establish an inclusive, people-focused 51社区黑料where all feel welcome, safe, accepted and appreciated. The People Plan and Equity Compass initiatives are aligned with What鈥檚 Next: The 51社区黑料Strategy and will enable faculty and staff to deliver on our Academic Plan 2019-2024 and Strategic Research Plan.

It has been a challenging year for the university marked by internal and external pressures and difficult decisions. As we reflect on the year, key highlights include the development of formal structures to support regular connections between leaders, more training and development opportunities, helping the community navigate our network of supports, and enhancing our on-campus actions to support community members with intersectional religious identities. We have also articulated our intended culture of Inclusive Excellence and successfully completed collective agreement negotiations with 51社区黑料unions and associations. 

These formal structures and procedures will support the work of the Equity Office in building a sense of belonging at 51社区黑料and enhance the work of the People Strategies teams in our collective commitment to transform the 51社区黑料experience. We will continue to listen to our community鈥檚 needs and prioritize relationship-building work that will ensure we progress together. 

Thank you to the faculty, staff and student leaders who helped to advance the work of the Equity Compass and People Plan this year. 

As we continue onto the next phase of the People Plan and Equity Compass, we look forward to fostering a safe, diverse, equitable and inclusive teaching, learning, research and working environment for all at SFU.
