Join the 51ÉçÇøºÚÁÏAlumni Council – nominations are open!
The 51ÉçÇøºÚÁÏAlumni Council exemplifies how our graduates bring their diverse professional expertise, lived experiences, and leadership to influence and support SFU’s strategic initiatives.
Council members are accomplished professionals dedicated to expanding SFU’s impact and building meaningful, lasting connections among alumni and the university.
We are currently accepting nominations from our alumni to join the Council. All nominees should bring their unique professional and lived experiences—and strong governance expertise—to serve in these dynamic volunteer roles.
Things to Know
- The Alumni Council focuses on high-level governance and is not a working board
- Alumni Council meetings are held at least three times per year
- Members are self-nominated and will be evaluated based on a skills and attributes matrix
- Members typically serve for 2-year terms, with the possible reappointment for up to an additional 3-year term, not exceeding 6 consecutive years
- As leadership volunteers, Council members represent 51ÉçÇøºÚÁÏat events, connect with our alumni across regions, and amplify SFU’s mission and impact through their personal and professional networks
We are seeking diverse representation from our global and Indigenous alumni communities as well as graduates from all 51ÉçÇøºÚÁÏfaculties. Self-nominate by October 27.
