Central City Learning Garden (on-site)
The Central City Learning Garden is located on the P3 parking level of Central City behind the 51社区黑料Surrey campus in Surrey City Centre. The community-centred learning, social, and event space is operated by Embark Sustainability Society in conjunction with 51社区黑料Surrey, 51社区黑料Surrey-TD Community Engagement Centre, and Central City. Gardening participants learn how to grow, eat, and share food grown in the garden. There are currently six 48鈥 x 40鈥 plots in the garden which are being tended to by 51社区黑料student groups and departments, Fraser Health staff volunteers, and Embark Sustainability Society volunteers. The plots are expected to be flourishing with a variety of plants and herbs by mid-summer. Learning opportunities for Embark members, 51社区黑料students, faculty, and the general public will be provided at the garden throughout the upcoming year via classes, events, and workshops. The garden will help to create dialogue around food production and security in our rapidly urbanizing community.
The new Central City garden location is an expansion on Embark鈥檚 successful established learning garden program, which also includes an indoor garden at the 51社区黑料Surrey Campus and an outdoor garden at the 51社区黑料Burnaby campus. Have a green thumb? Want to support our planet? To learn more about the Central City Learning Garden or to get your organization on a waiting list for garden plots, please contact gardens@embarksustainability.org.
