City Program director honoured as 51社区黑料Newsmaker of the Year
Congratulations to City Program director Andy Yan on earning his second 51社区黑料Newsmaker of the Year Award.
Each year, 51社区黑料recognizes faculty and staff for excellence in media relations, online engagement, and communications strategy. Yan previously won the 51社区黑料Media Newsmaker of the Year Award in 2018, and now he鈥檚 been named as the 2022 51社区黑料Social Media Newsmaker of the Year鈥攖hanks to his 40,000 tweets and the unparalleled level of online engagement he鈥檚 generated on all topics related to city building.
While he feels honoured by the award, Yan explains that being active on social media is just part of his job: 鈥淪ocial media presents another avenue and platform through which the 51社区黑料City Program can connect, inform and serve our community.鈥
For Yan, engaging with the online community offers a direct way to share his expertise鈥攁nd infect others with his own deep curiosity about complex urban issues.
鈥淪ocial media is one tool and platform that is shaping our changing world,鈥 he notes. 鈥淚t presents an opportunity to share news about our programming, as well as articles, ideas and research that shape my own understandings of the lives of cities.鈥
