At SFU, Facilities Services supports the development and transformation of campus spaces through our comprehensive Project Requests service. Whether you're planning a major renovation or a small-scale improvement, our team is here to guide your project from concept to completion.

Project Pre-Planning

The Facilities and Capital Planning team works collaboratively with departments to assess needs, explore options, and develop feasible, cost-effective solutions. Planning services include:

Preliminary project scoping and feasibility studies
Budget and schedule development
Coordination with consultants, contractors, and internal stakeholders
Compliance with university standards and regulatory requirements
We ensure your project is strategically aligned with SFU鈥檚 goals and operational priorities.

Major Building Renovations and Renewals

For large-scale projects that involve significant upgrades or reconfigurations, we offer full project management services. These projects may include:

Comprehensive building renovations
Infrastructure modernization (mechanical, electrical, structural)
Space reallocation and redesign
Sustainability and accessibility improvements

Our team ensures that major projects are delivered efficiently, safely, and with minimal disruption to campus operations.

Minor Building Renovations and other projects

We also support smaller-scale projects that enhance the functionality and aesthetics of campus spaces. These may include:

Office, lab, or classroom modifications
Interior finish upgrades (flooring, lighting, paint)
Energy efficiency improvements
Building signage
Furniture and equipment removal
Moving services

These projects are ideal for departments seeking targeted improvements without the scope of a major renovation.

Some smaller-scale requests (typically under $1,500) may be coordinated directly by the trades team and may not require a formal estimate.
