Dr. Kero Lau received the 2025 Faculty of Science Excellence in Research Award - Mentorship and Supervison, Early Career Category. 

He was recognized for his strong and creative mentorship of graduate students, leading them to win various awards in poster and oral presentations.  Kero was also highlighted for his work as part of the joint NSERC-CREATE grant, which has boosted quantum education in BC through the implementation of training programs, workshops and seminar series.

Dr. Gopolang Mohlabeng received the 2025 Faculty of Science Excellence in Research Award - Burgeoning Excellence Category.

He was recognized for his substantial contributions in dark matter research, with his theoretical work garnering global interest and being incorporated by major neutrino experiments such as P-ONE.  Gopolang is also an innovative and engaging speaker frequently invited to present at seminars and international conferences.

Ricky Chu received the 2025 Faculty of Science Excellence in Science Public Engagement and Outreach Award - Staff Category.

He was recognized for his ongoing and impactful work of bringing science education and awareness to the public, including eighteen years as an exhibit interpreter at Science World.  Ricky has supported countless outreach events for the department and the faculty, most recently contributing to the 10th Anniversary Celebration of the Trottier Observatory with the development of astronomy demos.

Olha Farion received the 2025 Faculty of Science Graduate Student Excellence in Teaching Award.

She was recognized for her exceptional work as a Teaching Assistant and Sessional Instructor, especially for using active learning techniques and assessment of students' prior knowledge to tailor her instructional approach.  Olha's work in creating math workshops for PHYS 100 students was also highly commended.
