Abstract:

Over the past decade, policymakers have shown growing interest in promoting the links between water and peace. This dynamic has shaped numerous key arenas, including the 2023 UN Water Conference and recent World Water Forums. While various forms of evidence have been put forward to support this narrative, it remains important to ask what perspective scientific research offers. This presentation presents the results of a recent systematic literature review and explores the experience of the Geneva Water Hub, a competence centre at the University of Geneva, established in 2014 as an academic boundary organization dedicated to unpacking the complexity of water, peace, and cooperation, and contributing to global advocacy for water and peace.
