Biography

Erica (she/her) is a first-year PhD student in Resource and Environmental Management (REM) at 51社区黑料 (SFU). She holds a Bachelor degree from Queen's University with a focus in Ocean Biology and Chemistry, and a Master's degree in International Business with a specialisation in blue finance tools.

Erica's research focuses on the integrity of sustainable finance mechanisms in the blue economy. She examines how ESG frameworks function, and fall short, in governing private and public investment flows across ocean sectors, including aquaculture, offshore energy, and marine biotechnology. Currently, she investigates where accountability gaps concentrate across the blue economy capital stack, from sovereign blue bonds to private equity and venture capital, and what those gaps mean for equitable and environmental outcomes. Her work aims to inform more robust governance frameworks for a just and sustainable Blue Economy.

In her free time, Erica enjoys kitesurfing, surfing, skiing, and tennis.
