The roundabout at Gaglardi Way and University Drive West.

Work to be completed:

Damaged curb repairs will be completed. This will involve crew, construction vehicles and a concrete truck staged blocking sections of the roundabout roadway.

Expected interruptions:

1. A section of the road around the roundabout will be closed to accommodate repair work.

2. Single lane alternating traffic can be expected in all directions on Gaglardi Way and University Drive West. Allow extra travel time.

3. Temporary delays can be expected along Gaglardi Way and University Drive West.

4. Cyclists will be detoured with traffic.

Comments

Cyclists are encouraged to use the multi-use-path during this roadway interruption.

When:

Saturday, September 13th (2025)

Where:

The southbound traffic lane of Tower Road located between University High Street and East Parking lot.

Work to be completed:

Manhole/chanber replacement. This will involve digging up sections of the road, refilling and repaving. Crews and equipment will be working along the road.

Expected interruptions:

1. The southbound traffic lane of Tower Road between University High Street and the bus stop by East Parking lot will be closed.

2. There will be no bus service to/from the bus stops located on Tower Road, South Campus Road and the departure stop on the west side of the Transportation Centre. A temporary departure stop will be available around the corner on University Drive West. Service will resume at these bus stops after Tower Road has been reopened and buses have returned to regular routing.

3. Cyclists and pedestrians will be detoured around the work site.

Where:

The section of Arts Road between North Parking lot and Blusson Hall & Saywell Hall

Work to be completed:

Inground service work will be completed. This will involve trenching across the road from Saywell Hall to the North Parking lot boulevard. Crew and equipment will be working along the road.

Expected interruptions:

Single lane alternating traffic can be expected when work is in progress.

Temporary delays can be expected. 

A section of the sidewalk north of Saywell Hall will be closed to accommodate this work.

The following is related to activity that can be expected on the Burnaby campus as part of the Student Residence "Phase 3 Construction Project"

Where:

1. Residence main parking lot off West Campus Road

2. West Campus Road

3. University Drive West

4. Sections of Gaglardi Way and University Drive East

Work to be completed:

Constuction of student residence building

Expected interruptions:

1. An increase in construction vehicles travelling on campus can be expected along sections of Gaglardi Way, University Drive East, University Drive West, and West Campus Road. This includes slow moving vehicles navigating roadway inclines.

2. Traffic delays can be expected. Allow extra travel time.

3. The northern section of the Residence main parking lot is closed throughout the building construcition period and restricted to construction personnel and vehicles.

3. Construction vehicles will be travelling through the residence main parking lot off West Campus Road to enter and depart from the construction site staging and lay-down area. Caution should be exercised and extra attention given to traffic control person assisting with truck routing through the parking lot and in and out of the construction site.

Where:

The section of Arts Road between University Drive East and the vicinity of Strand Hall receiving lane.

Work to be completed:

Roadside curb work and pedestrian path upgrades.

Expected interruptions:

1. The southbound traffic lane will be closed between University Drive East and the vicinity of Strand Hall receiving lane. The southbound traffic lane will be closed using fencing.

2. The sidewalk will be closed. A delineated pedestrian detour route around the fencing will be in place.

3. Vehicles enroute along University Drive East to the North Parking lot will be detoured to enter the parking lot from East Campus Road.

4. Vehicles departing the North Parking lot west side will be directed to turn right (northbound) only.

5. Delivery vehicles, service vehicles, and other destined for Strand Hall receiving lane will be detoured to use the section of Arts Road at East Campus Road.  

Comments

1. The northbound traffic lane on Arts Road will be kept open for northbound traffic only.

2. Transit bus routing and schedule is not anticipated to be impacted by the above.
