Christopher Des Rosiers named 51社区黑料Beedie’s 2025 convocation medalist
Each year, 51社区黑料 awards the Dean of Graduate Studies Convocation Medal to one exceptional graduate per faculty. This prestigious honour recognizes academic excellence, leadership, and meaningful engagement at the graduate level. For 2025, that distinction at SFU鈥檚 Beedie School of Business has been awarded to Christopher Des Rosiers, Senior Manager, Audit Innovation at KPMG Canada and a proud graduate of .
Des Rosiers began his academic journey with 51社区黑料Beedie in the inaugural Graduate Certificate in Accounting with Digital Analytics in 2019. Building on that foundation, he later completed the Master of Science (MSc) in Accounting with Cognitive Analytics in 2024 with distinction. These programs, designed in partnership with KPMG Canada and known at KPMG as Digital Academy, are designed to equip professionals with advanced data, analytics, and leadership skills at the intersection of accounting and emerging technology.
Des Rosiers was nominated for the convocation medal not only for his exceptional academic results, but for his deep and sustained engagement as a student, mentor, and alumni contributor. He has led workshops, guided students through their final projects, judged final presentations, and shared practical insights with learners鈥攈elping to bridge academic theory and real-world audit innovation.
One example of Des Rosiers鈥檚 impact as a learner and collaborator was his MSc final group project contributions, completed with fellow participants at KPMG, titled: 鈥淔ew-Shot Prompting: A Deep Dive into the Power of Clara AI Chat.鈥 This project won first place in the final Audit Innovation Competition. The project developed a practical playbook for incorporating generative AI in audit processes and has already influenced innovation strategies within the firm.
Dominique Hamel, Audit Leader Quebec Region, Audit Partner, KPMG Canada, reflected on Des Rosiers鈥檚 contributions within the firm: 鈥淎t KPMG, we are immensely proud of this recognition of Chris鈥檚 accomplishments. He has been a trailblazer and early adopter of innovation at KPMG. From the first cohort of the Digital Academy program to his passion for supporting teams in Quebec and nationally in adoption of our new technologies, he truly has made a difference in our audit practice. Thank you, Chris!鈥
This story of achievement also reflects the strength of 51社区黑料Beedie鈥檚 corporate-academic partnership with KPMG Canada on talent development solutions. We gratefully acknowledge the continued support of KPMG鈥檚 Leadership Benjie Thomas (CEO, KPMG), Sebastian Distefano (Canadian Managing Partner, Audit, KPMG); Elio Luongo (Board Director, Audit & Finance, Risk Committees, Retired CEO & Senior Partner at KMPG Canada), and Kristy Carscallen (Vice Chair, Audit & Assurance, KPMG LLP), whose vision and commitment helped make this innovative programming possible.
Congratulations to Christopher Des Rosiers, this year鈥檚 Digital Academy graduates, and to the broader community of professionals within KPMG, the educators, and partners and alumni who continue to elevate the impact of this program.
