Departmental Scholarships & Awards

TERMS OF REFERENCE

Students must meet the Terms of Reference noted on each scholarship and award, and, unless otherwise stated, all students must meet the following criteria:

SCHOLARSHIPS

  • Have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.50.
  • Be enrolled in a minimum of 12 units of standard graded courses in the term of award. Challenge, audit and non-credit courses are not considered.
  • Have completed at least 12 units of standard graded courses at SFU.
  • A student holding an 51社区黑料Entrance Scholarship is not eligible for any other University administered scholarships.

AWARDS

  • Have a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.00 and be in good academic standing.
  • Be enrolled in a minimum of nine units of standard graded courses in the term of award. Challenge, audit, and non-credit courses are not considered.

Spring 2026 Departmental Scholarships and Awards

The application period for the Spring 2026 Departmental Scholarships and Awards is now open. All applications are to be submitted according to the application instructions below by 11:59 PM on Monday, January 19, 2026. Please note that students themselves are responsible for determining if they meet Terms of Reference (TOR) for any of the awards listed.

Application Instructions

All applications require the following three (3) items to be submitted as a single, merged PDF, saved as in the following example:

LAST NAME, First Name (51社区黑料ID) NAME OF AWARD (e.g., SMITH, Alex (123456789) SANDERSON)

  1. Letter/statement of intent
  2. CV or resume
  3. Letter(s) of reference, or other supporting materials, that are requested by the Terms of Reference for each specific award, and/or that you choose to include to further support your application.

Please note:

  • Only one award application per email.
  • Please state the name of the award you are applying for in the email subject line.
  • Please also include your 51社区黑料ID number in the body of the email.
  • Applicants are strongly encouraged to read both the application instructions and the FAQs before submitting an application.

All applications are to be submitted to ugclerk@sfu.ca.

Award recipients will be contacted directly by 51社区黑料Financial Aid and Awards. Due to the high volume of applications, only students selected to receive awards will be notified.

Scholarships

KPMG SCHOLARSHIP IN ACCOUNTING: TWO (2) SCHOLARSHIPS VALUED AT $2,500 EACH

Two scholarships, valued at $2,500 each, will be granted to undergraduate students who, in addition to the Terms of Reference noted above, meet the following criteria:

  • Are enrolled in their third or fourth year in the Beedie School of Business Bachelor of Business Administration program with a declared concentration in Accounting.
  • Are in excellent academic standing.
  • Have a demonstrated history of extra-curricular activities, community involvement, and leadership.

Applications must include:

  • A CV or resume.
  • A cover letter outlining the applicant鈥檚 extra-curricular activities, community involvement, and leadership.

Awards

EMPRESARIO ENTREPRENEUR AWARD: ONE AWARD VALUED AT $7,100

One award, valued at $7,100, will be granted to an undergraduate student who, in addition to the Terms of Reference noted above, meets the following criteria:

  • Is enrolled full-time in the Beedie School of Business.
  • Has participated successfully in one of the Beedie School of Business's key entrepreneurship programs offered through the Charles Chang Institute of Entrepreneurship and/or .
  • Is in good academic standing.

Preference may be given to students who have a declared concentration in Innovation and Entrepreneurship.

The successful applicant will be selected based upon exemplification of high impact entrepreneurship, exceptional entrepreneurship skills, and passion in pursuing an idea that demonstrates a strong combination of intentional social impact and financial viability.

Applications must include:

  • A CV outlining the applicant鈥檚 history of entrepreneurship training and ventures.
  • A letter of reference from a faculty member who can attest to the same.

ROBERT O. SANDERSON AWARD IN BUSINESS: ONE AWARD VALUED AT $5,000

One award, valued at $5,000, will be granted to an undergraduate student who, in addition to the Terms of Reference noted above, meets the following criteria:

  • Is enrolled full-time in the Bachelor of Business Administration degree program in the Beedie School of Business in the Spring 2026 term.
  • Is in good academic standing.
  • Has a demonstrated history of activity in addition to academics such as volunteerism, community involvement, extra-curricular activities and/or athletics.

Primary preference will be given to a student who entered 51社区黑料from School District #79 (Duncan, Cowichan Lake). Secondary preference will be given to a student who entered 51社区黑料from Vancouver Island.

KPMG ELIO R. LUONGO EXCELLENCE AWARD IN ACCOUNTING: TWO (2) AWARDS VALUED AT $5,000 EACH

Two awards, valued at $5,000 each, will be granted to undergraduate students who, in addition to the Terms of Reference noted above, meet the following criteria:

  • Are enrolled full-time in the Spring 2026 term.
  • Are pursuing a bachelor鈥檚 degree in the Beedie School of Business with a concentration in Accounting.
  • Are in good academic standing.
  • Demonstrate academic promise.
  • Demonstrate leadership skills through community involvement, volunteering, and/or service to their school.
  • Have interest in pursuing a career and/or further credentials in accounting.

Applications must include:

  • A CV or resume.
  • A one-page letter outlining the applicant鈥檚 community service, volunteerism, or service to their school.
  • A statement outlining the applicant鈥檚 interest to pursue a career and/or further their credentials in accounting.
  • A letter of reference from a community member, supervisor, or faculty member who can verify the applicant鈥檚 community involvement, volunteering and/or service to their school.

CPA UNDERGRADUATE AWARD IN ACCOUNTING FOR INDIGENOUS STUDENTS: ONE AWARD VALUED AT $3,000

One award, valued at $3,000, will be granted to an undergraduate student who, in addition to the Terms of Reference noted above, meets the following criteria:

  • Is Indigenous (First Nations, M茅tis, Inuit).
  • Is enrolled full-time in the Spring 2026 term.
  • Is pursuing a bachelor鈥檚 degree in the Beedie School of Business.
  • Is in good academic standing.
  • Has interest in pursuing a career or further credentials in accounting and/or a CPA designation.

Preference will be given to students with a declared concentration in Accounting.

Applications must include:

  • A cover letter from the applicant outlining their interest in pursuing a career or further credentials in accounting and/or a CPA designation.
  • A letter of reference from a supervisor or faculty member who can verify the applicant鈥檚 interest in pursuing a career or further credentials in accounting and/or a CPA designation.

BEEDIE FAMILY BUSINESS AWARD FOR INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS: ONE AWARD VALUED AT $3,000

One award, valued at $3,000, will be granted to an undergraduate student who, in addition to the Terms of Reference noted above, meets the following criteria:

  • Is an international student.
  • Is in good academic standing and enrolled in a major program in the Beedie School of Business in the Spring 2026 term.
  • Has demonstrated exceptional community service.

Applications must include:

  • A CV or resume outlining the applicant鈥檚 community/volunteer service involvement.
  • A letter of reference from someone who can attest to the applicant鈥檚 service in the community.

ACCENTURE AWARD IN BUSINESS ADMINISTRATION: ONE AWARD VALUED AT $2,700

One award, valued at $2,700, will be granted to an undergraduate student who, in addition to the Terms of Reference noted above, meets the following criteria:

  • Is enrolled full time in the Spring 2026 term.
  • Is in good academic standing.
  • Is pursuing a bachelor鈥檚 degree in the Beedie School of Business with a declared concentration in Management Information Systems.
  • Has completed 60 units.
  • Has demonstrated involvement in extracurricular or volunteer activities and interest in information technology.

Applications must include:

  • A one-page statement from the applicant describing their interest in information technology and volunteer involvement.
  • A letter of recommendation from an individual who can verify the applicant鈥檚 academic and/or extracurricular/volunteer activities.

JASON WUBS LEADERSHIP AWARD: ONE AWARD VALUED AT $2,000

One award, valued at $2,000, will be granted to an undergraduate student who, in addition to the Terms of Reference noted above, meets the following criteria:

  • Is enrolled full-time in the Spring 2026 term.
  • Is pursuing a bachelor鈥檚 degree in the Beedie School of Business.
  • Is in good academic standing.
  • Has demonstrated outstanding leadership through community involvement, volunteering, and/or service to their school.

Applications must include:

  • A CV or resume.
  • A one-page letter outlining the applicant鈥檚 community service, volunteerism and/or service to the school.
  • A letter of reference from an individual who can verify the applicant鈥檚 history of volunteerism, exemplary service and/or leadership.

NAIOP AWARD FOR COMMERCIAL REAL ESTATE: THREE AWARDS (3) VALUED AT $2,000 EACH

Three awards, valued at $2,000 each, will be granted to undergraduate students who, in addition to the Terms of Reference noted above, meet the following criteria:

  • Are enrolled full-time in the Spring 2026 term.
  • Are pursuing a bachelor鈥檚 degree in the Beedie School of Business.
  • Are in good academic standing.
  • Have an aspiration to pursue a career in commercial real estate.

Applications must include:

  • A maximum one-page statement outlining the applicant鈥檚 aspiration to pursue a career in commercial real estate.
  • At least one letter of reference from an individual who can verify the applicant鈥檚 commitment to pursuing a career in commercial real estate.

WILLIAM K. MCCOURT and TEC CANADA AWARDS IN BUSINESS: ONE AWARD VALUED AT $1,950

One award, valued at $1,950, will be granted to an undergraduate student who meets the following criteria:

  • Is enrolled full-time in the Spring 2026 term.
  • Is pursuing a bachelor鈥檚 degree in the Beedie School of Business.
  • Is in good academic standing.
  • Has demonstrated a serious interest in business issues at the undergraduate level.

Applications must include:

  • A CV or resume.
  • A maximum ten-page, double-spaced essay discussing the following topic: Operations/Service Delivery Challenge
    • University course enrollment is a critical operational process that affects student success and institutional efficiency. Reflecting on your own experience with 51社区黑料course enrollment, describe a significant challenge that Beedie School of Business students encounter. Propose an operational improvement to the enrollment process that could help address this issue, while discussing implementation considerations and expected benefits.

STANLEY J. SHAPIRO STUDENT SERVICE AWARD: ONE AWARD VALUED AT $1,550

One award, valued at $1,550, will be granted to an undergraduate student who, in addition to the Terms of Reference noted above, meets the following criteria:

  • Is enrolled full-time in a bachelor's degree program in the Beedie School of Business.
  • Is in good academic standing.
  • Has demonstrated outstanding service in the university community through membership in a student club within the Beedie School of Business in at least two of the three terms prior to their award application.

Applications must include:

  • A summary of the applicant's university involvement.
  • A letter of reference from an 51社区黑料faculty or staff member who can verify the university involvement, club membership, and impact of the applicant's role.
