This internationally accredited MBA program focuses on Indigenous economies, entrepreneurship, and leadership. Overview

The Indigenous Business Leadership Executive MBA (IBL EMBA) learning journey weaves together Indigenous worldviews with business theory to provide you with tools and skills to create communities of wellbeing. In this program you are invited to learn the discipline of business, question current business practices, apply Indigenous knowledges and worldviews, and construct desired futures to support growth, sustainability and economic wellbeing for the organizations and communities you belong to.

In 2025, 51ÉçÇøºÚÁÏBeedie is celebrating 13 years of delivering the IBL EMBA. Today, we are proud to uplift and recognize the 273 community leaders who have earned their IBL EMBA. These alumni are leaders at the forefront and on the frontlines of advancing systems change, business management, economic development, nation building, and self-determination.

Flexible program delivery model

The IBL EMBA program is designed to be in relationship with your full-time work, community, and family responsibilities while you study. Using a blended program delivery model, this program requires you to be connected online twice a week for live, synchronous classes as well as to to travel for a one-week, in person intensive each semester. This program is five semesters in length for a total of 20 consecutive months. You will be required to attend all on line and in person classes.

IBL EMBA students are leaders with a vision for community well being, partnership, and collaboration. This program is designed for leaders dedicated to advancing their leadership, teamwork, strategic, and decision-making skills.

How it works

The IBL EMBA schedule allows you to study while you continue working. The blended learning experience takes place over five semesters. Each semester, you will gather with your classmates for a one-week intensive in-community learning experience in addition to the eight weeks of online classes per semester. You will meet online two mornigns  a week and your 1 week intensives will be 8:30 am – 5:00 pm Monday to Friday Attendance and participation in all online and in person classes are mandatory.

In addition to in-person and online learning, you will be required to devote time to reading, writing, critical thinking, and teamwork outside of the class time. Plan to prepare for 10 to 15 hours of schoolwork a week of.

The IBL EMBA program develops an in-depth view of how businesses and organizations are structured and managed. This program expands your business mindset and conceptual frameworks, giving you the skills to achieve greater responsibility. You will learn to apply a strategic and collaborative perspective to changing environments and diverse challenges.
