Research Interests

Dr. Hou鈥檚 research program examines how social and cultural factors shape the health and well-being of children and their families. Guided by values of diversity and inclusion, her work seeks to understand how children and families flourish within diverse social and cultural environments and social systems, including healthcare, education, and communities. Her team uses mixed-methods and community-engaged research approaches to partner meaningfully with people with lived experience throughout the research process. Insights from this work inform the co-creation and delivery of culturally responsive interventions that advance health equity for underrepresented and underserved populations of children and families.
