Alumni Receive Canadian Parents for French Teaching Award
Marissa Bergeron and Bethany Scholfield, who both completed our Professional Development Program - French Module (PDP), are this year鈥檚 recipients of the Teacher Award!
Marisssa completed the PDP in 2024. As described by Canadian Parents for French (CPF) in their press release, "Her creativity and playful approach鈥攖hrough activities like chapeau magique, Pauline le poussin, and mots perdus鈥攎ake learning French joyful, inclusive, and full of exploration" . Bethany completed the PDP in 2025. "Her passion for bilingualism, her culturally rich lessons, and her innovative projects, including the Wendat Dictionary Project, inspire students to see the real-life value of learning French" . "Their dedication, energy, and ingenuity embody the spirit of French language education and inspire both students and colleagues alike" .
Since 1992, CPF BC & Yukon has offered a financial award to students completing their post-secondary education studies to teach French as a Second Language (Immersion, Intensive, or Core) in BC or Yukon. The CPF BC & Yukon Teacher Award is valued at $2,000, and up to two awards are granted each year.
