Tell us about your research and why you find it fascinating

My research focuses on understanding how human activities impact ecosystem functioning in inland waters, like rivers and reservoirs. My specific expertise is in biogeochemical cycling, i.e. the movement and transformation of elements like carbon through ecosystems, with a focus on greenhouse gas exchange (which is fascinating!). Through an improved understanding of these greenhouse gas emissions we can help mitigate their effects on the global climate.

What do you want people to know about your research?

People probably think I spend most of my time in the field collecting samples鈥攂ut a lot of my time is actually spent analysing data and writing.

What do you aspire to create/learn/accomplish during your time at SFU?

I hope to expand my knowledge and meet new people at SFU!

What鈥檚 your best advice for other postdocs and researchers as they embark on their new projects and studies?
