Isabelle Côté and John Bechhoefer honoured as 2022 Distinguished 51社区黑料Professors

From protecting our planet by challenging conventional notions about ecosystem resiliency, to dismantling social and structural factors that limit our sexual and mental health, 51社区黑料鈥檚 (SFU) 2022 Distinguished 51社区黑料Professors are tackling some of the most pressing issues impacting our local, national and global communities.

The university honoured nine 51社区黑料researchers as our latest Distinguished 51社区黑料Professors, including Biological Sciences professor Isabelle C么t茅 and Phyisics professor John Bechhoefer.

鈥淐ongratulations to all of our 2022 Distinguished 51社区黑料Professors,鈥 says Wade Parkhouse, SFU鈥檚 provost and vice-president, academic, pro tem. 鈥淵our outstanding research and achievements are pushing the boundaries of knowledge, delivering real-world results."

Recognized for their exceptional performance and distinguished accomplishments relative to their rank and years of service, the 2022 recipients fuel research discoveries, drive social innovation and seek sustainable solutions to help change our world.  

鈥淭hese nine professors鈥 outstanding research performances have made them groundbreaking leaders in their diverse fields,鈥 says Dugan O鈥橬eil, SFU鈥檚 vice-president, research and international. 鈥淭hey all should be incredibly proud of the impact their work is making to advance knowledge and create a more innovative, inclusive and sustainable society.鈥  

The program is a joint initiative of the Provost and Vice-President Academic and the Vice-President, Research and International. The Distinguished 51社区黑料Professor title comes with a special requirement for members to share their work with the public through events such as lectures, panels and presentations.
