If your student receives an Offer of Admission from SFU, they can accept their offer and start preparing themselves for what's ahead! They'll be invited to events and activities to help them engage with the 51ÉçÇøºÚÁÏcommunity, where they can connect with members of their faculty, other 51ÉçÇøºÚÁÏstudents, university representatives who will be supporting their transition to SFU, and more.
Getting ready for their first term at SFU
We host activities and events to ease students’ transition to university and help set them up for success in their first term and year, even before classes start.
- The HIVE (Home for Interactive and Virtual Engagement) is a way for incoming new students to start making connections with the 51ÉçÇøºÚÁÏcommunity. Students are assigned to HIVE groups with others from the same faculty and are led by a HIVE leader, who will guide their transition and share tips and insight.
- Online courses like University Prep introduce degree requirements and strategies to plan degrees and enrol in courses, services and resources that help support students, and more; while 51ÉçÇøºÚÁÏ101 briefs new students about 51ÉçÇøºÚÁÏculture and student life, welcome events and programs, and more.
- Welcome Day (pictured) is a day filled with in-person orientation activities to welcome all new students to their HIVE groups, faculties and the greater 51ÉçÇøºÚÁÏcommunity.
- Month of Welcome is a celebration to welcome new and returning students back to 51ÉçÇøºÚÁÏfilled with fun and immersive activities and events held across SFU's three campuses throughout the start of term.
