51ÉçÇøºÚÁÏ

Your student's next steps

After submitting their application, students will be assigned an 51ÉçÇøºÚÁÏstudent number, which they can use to sign in to the  to check their application status and any required documents they'll need to submit. During this time, students can work on several tasks as they wait to hear back about application decisions.

Consider education costs and support

Student financial planning

We make financial aid supports and income opportunities more accessible to students so that they can offset some of the costs of their university education. Together, you and your student can do a little financial planning to explore their options for funding undergraduate studies and related student expenses.

Get an estimate of your student's costs and plan a budget

Use our undergraduate cost calculator to estimate your student's total costs for each term of study, including tuition, student fees and variable living expenses. Having a general number in mind can help you and your student plan a reasonable budget and make informed financial decisions.

Consider living arrangements

On-campus housing

Students can enjoy their own private living and study spaces, access to housing amenities, and meal plans at the Dining Commons. It’s the ideal setup for those who want convenience and proximity to classes on campus, a sense of community among friends from all over the world, and independence in a safe, welcoming environment.

Guaranteed housing for first-year students

New students starting in September have access to guaranteed housing for the Fall and Spring terms if they:

  • Are eligible to live in residence.
  • Complete their housing application by May 1.
  • Accept their offer of admission to 51ÉçÇøºÚÁÏby this date.
  • Are entering SFU directly from high school (i.e. not transferring from another post-secondary institution).
How applications work

Spaces on campus are limited and high in demand, so it's best to apply early. Students don't need to wait until they're admitted to 51ÉçÇøºÚÁÏto apply for housing. Although housing offers are only made after admission to 51ÉçÇøºÚÁÏis confirmed, the date of housing application is still taken into account.

Off-campus housing

Many off-campus housing options can be found throughout Metro Vancouver. Depending on which of SFU's three campuses most of your student's classes will be held, Burnaby, Surrey, and downtown Vancouver are good places to start. Availability of housing in neighbourhoods close to campus can vary, so it's best to search early.
