Studying in Canada

I am an undergraduate student who is transferring to 51社区黑料from another Canadian designated learning institution (DLI).  Do I need a provincial attestation letter (PAL)?

Yes. Starting January 22, 2025, a PAL is required for most study permit applications for SFU, including international undergraduate student transferring from another Canadian DLI to SFU, unless you meet a . The process of applying for a 51社区黑料study permit differs between in-Canada and outside Canada applications.

If you鈥檙e already in Canada and have a valid study permit:

  • You鈥檒l apply for a study permit extension to reflect your transfer to SFU.
  • You must include both your 51社区黑料Letter of Acceptance (LOA) and a valid PAL in your application. 
  • You must submit your application before your current study permit expires.

If you鈥檙e applying from outside Canada:

  • This is considered a new study permit application, not an extension.
  • You must include both your 51社区黑料Letter of Acceptance (LOA) and a valid PAL in your application.
