You may be required to provide biometrics (fingerprints and photo) when applying for a study permit. This helps Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) confirm your identity and process your application securely.

Deadline to give biometrics
Once you receive your Biometric Instruction Letter (BIL) from IRCC, you typically have 30 days to complete your appointment. If you’re unable to meet the deadline due to unforeseen circumstances (e.g., no available appointments), you can request an extension using the . Include:
