Study permits

- Receive your invite to our big on-campus event, where we'll help you get to know your SFU. It's your opportunity to meet other students, faculty and staff, and build connections in the 51社区黑料community before your first day!

- Complete University Prep: Step 1 course to prepare for your academic transition to SFU. Learn about our academic culture, degree requirements, supports and services, and tips to help set you up for academic success.

- Most offers must be accepted by May 1. For offers sent after April, please check your admission offer letter for deadlines.

- Look for an email sent to your non-51社区黑料email address informing you that your 51社区黑料computing ID is available and ready for activation. You'll need your computing ID to enrol in courses for the Fall term.

- Complete University Prep: Step 2 course to prepare for Fall term enrolment. Learn how to choose courses using goSFU, plan your course schedule, connect with an advisor and more.

- Pay tuition and fees and get ready for classes.
- New students can get their student ID card 24 hours after enrolling.

51社区黑料Residence and Housing
As a first-year undergraduate student, you'd be eligible for guaranteed housing starting in the Fall if you complete your application to 51社区黑料Residence and Housing by May 1, 2025 and meet these requirements:
- You are to live on residence.
- Your pathway to 51社区黑料is direct from high school and you are not transferring from another post-secondary institution.
Study permits
International students currently in Canada or abroad, and who are not Canadian citizens, will need a valid study permit to be eligible to study at SFU. These are a type of immigration document issued by Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) and can take several months to process, so we strongly recommend you complete your application as soon as possible before you arrive in Canada.
Starting January 22, 2025, a Provincial Attestation Letter (PAL) is required for most study permit applications, including those applying from outside of Canada or when changing schools (e.g., high school to post-secondary or transferring DLIs).
