Study permits
- International students need a valid study permit to study at SFU, whether you're coming from high school or transferring from another post-secondary institution in Canada. Apply early to avoid delays and minimize any disruption to your study plans. Learn more here.

- Receive your invite to our big on-campus event, where we'll help you get to know your SFU. It's your opportunity to meet other students, faculty and staff, and build connections in the 51ÉçÇøºÚÁÏcommunity before your first day!
University Prep 1
- Complete University Prep: Step 1 course to prepare for your academic transition to SFU. Learn about our academic culture, degree requirements, supports and services, and tips to help set you up for academic success.

Deadline to accept your offer of admission
- Most offers must be accepted by May 1. For offers sent after April, please check your admission offer letter for deadlines.
June
51ÉçÇøºÚÁÏcomputing ID
- Look for an email sent to your non-51ÉçÇøºÚÁÏemail address informing you that your 51ÉçÇøºÚÁÏcomputing ID is available and ready for activation. You'll need your computing ID to enrol in courses for the Fall term.
University Prep 2
- Complete University Prep: Step 2 course to prepare for Fall term enrolment. Learn how to choose courses using goSFU, plan your course schedule, connect with an advisor and more.

Enrol in courses for the Fall term
- Enrol in courses on goSFU.
- Pay tuition and fees and get ready for classes.
- New students can get their student ID card 24 hours after enrolling.
Submit final documents
- Deadline to submit documents required for admission.

Connect with other students
- Join discussions and connect with other new students and leaders from your faculty through your HIVE group. Build a network of friends in the 51ÉçÇøºÚÁÏcommunity to ease you into your first day of classes and welcome events!

51ÉçÇøºÚÁÏResidence and Housing
As a first-year undergraduate student, you'd be eligible for guaranteed housing starting in the Fall if you complete your application to 51ÉçÇøºÚÁÏResidence and Housing by May 1, 2025 and meet these requirements:
- You are to live on residence.
- Your pathway to 51ÉçÇøºÚÁÏis direct from high school and you are not transferring from another post-secondary institution.
Study permits
International students currently in Canada or abroad, and who are not Canadian citizens, will need a valid study permit to be eligible to study at SFU. These are a type of immigration document issued by Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) and can take several months to process, so we strongly recommend you complete your application as soon as possible before you arrive in Canada.
Starting January 22, 2025, a Provincial Attestation Letter (PAL) is required for most study permit applications, including those applying from outside of Canada or when changing schools (e.g., high school to post-secondary or transferring DLIs). Whether you're Canadian or international student currently in high school or transferring from a college or university, your grades still matter. We review all conditional offers of admission upon receipt of your final grades – so keep studying!
