OPEN CALL TO JOIN SFU'S COP 30 VIRTUAL DELEGATION

51社区黑料invites all students engaged in climate action to apply to join SFU鈥檚 COP 30 virtual delegation to COP 30. During this opportunity, virtual delegates may watch the international climate negotiation process, tune in to climate focused dialogue and action, and observe partnership formation and relationship building of people from around the world.

51社区黑料holds official observer status for COP 30 and will participate virtually. Further details about virtual access and session participation are expected in early September.

Last year, the UNFCCC began reallocating badge distribution between nations and NGO's. 51社区黑料does not anticipate sending a formal in-person delegation to COP 30 in Bel茅m, Brazil, from November 10-21, 2025.

The deadline to apply is Friday, August 1, 2025 (11:59PM).

Eligibility

51社区黑料degree-seeking undergraduate, graduate, and post-doc students involved in climate action, environmental advocacy, learning, and broader sustainability interests are all invited to apply.

Equity, diversity and access

The COP 30 51社区黑料virtual delegation values and celebrates diversity in people, ideas, knowledge, and cultures. We recognize that these differences and lived experiences bring about new perspectives and will enrich the COP 30 virtual delegation overall.  We value and prioritize Indigenous and other non-dominant knowledge systems to respond to the climate crisis in ways that do not further harm and we encourage members of underrepresented groups to apply.

We are committed to ensuring that the application and review process is accessible to all applicants. If you require any assistance or accommodations, please contact Marina Van Driel at sustainability@sfu.ca
