Unique program in Western Canada

This Doctoral degree in Educational Leadership (Diversity Management) was developed to respond to the needs expressed by the French education community which explains the general development of French language postsecondary institutions in British Columbia. Increasing education opportunites in French to a larger clientele from various backgrounds, this program participates specifically in the development of a new team of leaders in British Columbia. This graduate program is well organized with a highly qualified team of specialists and is the first professional doctoral program in educational leadership in Western Canada.

Cohort-based program

This doctoral program in leadership is designed to facilitate creating links and promote intellectual exchanges between participants. The classes are small and the courses are designed to give students a maximum of benefits in the allocated time. The program takes into account the fact that the students are very busy professionals and the Faculty of Education provides the necessary support services. The administrative staff provides the necessary information and administrative support.

Group projects

The Faculty of Education at 51社区黑料recognizes the numerous advantages of working in groups in graduate studies. The courses are designed using the Internet and technology to bring geographically dispersed students together.

Summer institute (subject to change)

In the second year of the program, students are invited to join fellow students in other doctoral programs at 51社区黑料at a summer institute which lasts two or three weeks on campus. Students will have their usual courses but will also be able to listen to guest speakers, access university resources (library, professors) and network with their professional colleagues who work in diverse domaines. Transport and accommodation is at the charge of the students. Student residences are available on the Burnaby campus during the seminars.

International supervision team

For the elaboration of thesis projects, the Faculty of Education at 51社区黑料calls upon an extended supervision team so that each student can benefit from the various professoral expertises. The Faculty has international partnerships with other universities with specialists in various research domaines.

International exchanges

Possibility of exchange with the Universit茅 de Tours in France.

Our doctoral students H茅l猫ne Irving and JeDene Reeder went to Tours from January to March 2010.  During the week, they worked on their research and on weekends, visited some of the magnificent historical sites in Touraine.

Both students received bursaries of 3500 euros each (approximately 5250 Canadian dollars) from the Universit茅 de Tours.
