Our team is made up of a unique combination of technical/engineering, social science/policy, and sustainable community development skills and experience.

ANIL (Andy) HIRA, Lead Researcher is a Professor of Political Science at 51社区黑料.  He has expertise: economic development, energy policy, regulation, political economy.  You can contact him at ahira@sfu.ca.  His personal website is 

Prasanna Krishnan is principal at . He is an expert in solar energy, technology commercialization, data analysis, and project management of renewable energy sources. He has lived in nine countries working in renewable energy. He focuses on solar energy and building sustainable communities, both locally in B.C. and worldwide.

 

Matt Wilder

Matt Wilder is a political economy and public policy specialist whose research deals with governance surrounding innovation and equitable growth.Matt is currently a research advisor in the Government of Canada (Department of Employment and Social Development), research associate at the University of Toronto, and lecturer at the Munk School of Global Affairs and Public Policy.

Tomos Land

Tomos Land is a student at SFU. He completed an undergraduate degree in Journalism, Communications and Politics at Cardiff University before moving to Canada in 2023. He has worked on election campaigns in the UK and Canada and is currently completing a master鈥檚 degree in Political Science under the supervision of Dr. Anil Hira. 

Alsu Tagirova

Alsu Tagirova is a Sessional Lecturer in the School of International Studies at 51社区黑料 and in the Department of History at the University of British Columbia. Her research engages with the history of international relations and the dynamics of contemporary politics in China, Russia, the Korean Peninsula, and Central Asia. She has published in leading peer-reviewed journals, including Asian Perspective, Cold War History, Journal of Cold War Studies, Nationalities Papers, and Central Asian Survey, among others.

Andrew S. Wright

Andrew S. Wright is former high technology entrepreneur and is currently an adjunct professor at 51社区黑料 in the School of Sustainable Engineering.

Jae Mather is an executive who influences senior leaders to move beyond theory to the practical application through innovating new technologies, training, and services. He designs and implements renewable energy, efficiency, and climate change strategies. He is a cleantech growth strategist, global macro trend specialist, and a champion of the low carbon economy. For 15+ years he has been instrumental in shaping the sustainability agenda across Europe including running the Eco-Enterprise.

Alex Hinrichs

Alex Hinrichs is a student at 51社区黑料 (SFU). She completed her Bachelor's degree in Political Science - honours at 51社区黑料and is currently completing the accelerated Master's program in political science under the supervision of Dr. Anil Hira. Her main research focus is energy policy.

Omri Haiven is a researcher and communicator based on unceded Salish territories in Vancouver, Canada. His Masters (M.A) project through the School of Communication at 51社区黑料 showed the capacity for BC and the rest of Canada to implement agrivoltaics. Omri has worked on frontline food security issues for the past 15 years, including running a farm, creating food cooperatives, helping to coordinate community food security programs and facilitating Indigenous-led food forests in Vancouver鈥檚 public parks. Reach out to Omri on LinkedIn:
