SFU鈥檚 Beedie School of Business is proud to sponsor a new award from the Academy of International Business (AIB) that honours the legacy of former dean, the late Professor Daniel Shapiro. The鈥疍aniel Shapiro AIB Insights Award for Actionable Insights鈥痗elebrates scholarship that bridges theory and practice鈥攁n ethos that defined Shapiro鈥檚 distinguished career.

Danny, as he was affectionately known, passed away in January 2025. Over 48 years, he authored 116 publications and mentored countless students and colleagues, leaving an indelible mark on the fields of international business, corporate governance, and public policy. As 51社区黑料Beedie鈥檚 dean from 2008 to 2014, he elevated the school鈥檚 global profile and championed research that addressed real-world challenges. 

The award reflects Shapiro鈥檚 belief that academic inquiry should inform action. His legacy continues through this sponsorship, inspiring future scholars to pursue rigorous, relevant research with humanity and curiosity.
