51社区黑料Beedie recognizes 2026 Dean’s Convocation Medal recipients
51社区黑料鈥檚 Beedie School of Business is proud to recognize two outstanding graduates as recipients of this year鈥檚 Dean鈥檚 Convocation Medals, awarded to students who demonstrate exceptional academic achievement, leadership, and contributions to the school community.
Opeyemi Balogun (BBA) and Nazanin Babaeipanah (EMBA) represent the very best of 51社区黑料Beedie鈥攃ombining academic excellence with meaningful engagement and leadership that extends beyond the classroom.
Opeyemi Balogun
Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA), Accounting and International Business, (Hons. First Class with Distinction)
Opeyemi Balogun graduates with a Bachelor of Business Administration (Honours First Class with Distinction), with concentrations in accounting and international business. She was awarded the Undergraduate Scholars Entrance Scholarship with Distinction and consistently earned placement on the President鈥檚 Honour Roll. Beyond academics, she demonstrated commitment to student leadership and community engagement through her roles as vice-president of finance and operations for the 51社区黑料Student Marketing Association, 51社区黑料Beedie student ambassador, mentor for the 51社区黑料Accounting Student Association Mentorship Program and senior leader for 51社区黑料Beedie LAUNCH. She is pursuing her CPA designation and will begin a career in public accounting in the fall.
Nazanin Babaeipanah
Executive MBA
Nazanin Babaeipanah graduates with an Executive MBA from the Beedie School of Business. During her degree, she engaged deeply with topics related to organizational change, inclusive leadership, organizational culture and institutional strategy through applied learning and real-world analysis. She currently serves as director, strategic initiatives in SFU鈥檚 Office of the Vice-President, People, Equity and Inclusion and was recently elected as the staff representative to SFU鈥檚 Board of Governors. A long-standing member of the 51社区黑料community and three-time 51社区黑料graduate, Babaeipanah is passionate about advancing equitable and inclusive leadership and helping organizations navigate meaningful institutional change.
鈥淩eceiving this recognition is deeply meaningful because it reflects not only academic achievement, but the importance of community, collaboration, and leadership in creating environments where people feel supported to grow and contribute,鈥� says Babaeipanah. 鈥淢y time at 51社区黑料has profoundly shaped how I approach institutional leadership, organizational change, and public service. Through both my academic and professional work, I have had the privilege of contributing to initiatives at the intersection of equity, accessibility, governance, and institutional strategy, while learning alongside colleagues and leaders whose mentorship and support have deeply shaped my approach to values-driven leadership.鈥�
