The Fairshares Project, led by the Climate Emergency Unit, advocates for Canada to fulfill its equitable role in addressing the climate crisis by aligning its climate finance and emission reduction efforts with its historical emissions and economic capacity. Focused on justice and solidarity, the initiative emphasizes Canada鈥檚 responsibility to rapidly reduce domestic emissions, provide substantial climate finance鈥攑articularly to Global South nations through grants鈥攁nd support a just transition away from fossil fuels. By centering fairness and reparative action, the project calls for Canada to meet its international obligations and contribute to a more equitable global climate response.
Raj also contributed to producing an internal communications report for the Padma 鈥 Caste and Climate Justice Brief, which was presented at the virtual summit .
Research Assistant: Raj Deol
Raj was born in Hong Kong, is of South Asian descent and is now residing on Turtle Island. He is completing his Masters in International Studies at 51社区黑料and his work focuses on advancing caste and social inclusion in international development, researching gender migration discourses in Asia and strengthening the global human rights system from backlash. Raj is also a development practitioner who has worked with the United Nations on gender equality, disaster resilience and migration.
