transfer student (from another university)
If you have a student who has started at another institution who wishes to transfer to 51社区黑料to complete their credential, it should be treated as a new admission.
Notes about admission:
- advance credit should be evaluated to decide what course work will be counted from their previous institution and what course work is still outstanding.
- A minimum of 50% of the program鈥檚 course work must be done at SF

A few items to consider:
- If a Statement of Interest or similar document is part of your admission process, you may want the applicant to outline why they're leaving your current program, how 51社区黑料better aligns with their goals and whether they want to transfer any coursework or research.
- Transfer credit is not guaranteed and is subject to approval by the graduate program and SFU鈥檚 policies.
Readmission? If they were previously a student at 51社区黑料and want to return, a different process called readmission may apply.
Awards/funding: if they are transferring and hold Tri-Agency or other major funding, special coordination may be needed.
When a new faculty member is hired and their graduate student comes with them it is considered an exception.
