Please ensure that any information accessed through systems like Slate, GA3, or SharePoint is used only for its intended purpose and handled securely in compliance with FIPPA.
Graduate Programs manage their recruitment and use Slate to process admission applications. Graduate Studies ensures university minimums and proper process are followed.
- Slate has 2 sides: an administrative side () and a review side (), which you can toggle between using the laptop icon or exit button.
- In Slate, users can: check admission cycle set up, assist applicants, complete a first pass review of applications, review/move admission applications, make admission decisions, complete and submit the admission recommendation form, monitor where applications are in the workflow.
- Queries can be run in Slate to retrieve data on the current and/or previous admission cycles.

- The can be used to run award competitions and check past, current, and future awards payments. In GA3 users can: check BASS allocations and usage, open/activate award competitions, create applications, facilitate the review of award applications, make funding decisions, enter and submit award recommendations, run reports on award decisions and payments.
- displays each graduate students program data, guaranteed funding, scholarships and accumulating payroll payments. In eTRACS, users can compare their student's guaranteed funding to actual scholarship and payroll payments, users can also record refused/declined TAs and awards to show why funding has not been met. Data can be exported and a Quick Report can be run each term to ensure students are on track for receiving promised funding.

Graduate Programs should track and manage enrollment, prevent and help resolve enrolment issues and assist students through completing within program time limits.
- Programs use various reports to monitor enrollment issues, find/resolve service indicators and missing or DE grades and determine students requirement term and ongoing status.
- Various forms are used to ensure student record changes are documented, consistent with policy, and visible/approved by the right people.

Units should ensure review and approval of progress reports is coordinated in a timely and professional manner, that privacy and confidentiality are adhered to, and students are connected with resources as needed.
Complicated cases can be referred to our Student Support Specialist and Associate Director, Student Affairs.

Units respond to student demand, faculty expertise, or industry trends by changing existing, or developing new, programs or courses. Graduate Studies is available for consultation at any time throughout the development and approval process.
Graduate Program Chairs (GPC) Committee Memberships
GPC's are automatically members of the Faculty Graduate Studies Assembly (FGSA), a governing body to manage academic regulations, policies, and governance for graduate programs. It includes graduate program chairs, staff, and student representatives.
GPS's are also members of the Faculty Graduate Scholarship Committee (FGSC), which adjudicates some entrance scholarships and Tri-agency awards, as needed.
Institutional Research and Planning
Insitutional Research and Planning defines, collects, analyzes, maintains and disseminates institutional data, information and research about all aspects of the university.
This includes graduate student Enrolment Reports and Exit Survey results.
