For admission to a Graduate Certificate or Diploma the requirement is a degree equivalent to a 51ÉçÇøºÚÁÏ 4-year bachelor’s degree with a minimum overall grade equivalent to a B-.

- Grading systems may vary.
- The general pattern used is 0-20 with 13 passing.
- Others use A,B,C,D,F which may be considered the same as the North American 4.0 grading system.
- Grades may be very much inflated, particularly after the Islamic Revolution in 1979.
- Beginning in the summer of 1980, universities were closed for a period of three years.

Islamic Azad University (est. 1981) is an open, private university which has many branches, not all of which are recognized. The eligibility of its degrees for admission to Graduate Studies is assessed on a case-by-case basis. All programs at the Tehran branches of the Islamic Azad University are accredited and approved by the Educational Evaluation Committee for Azad University.

Applicants with degrees from Islamic Azad University from other locations (other than the ones listed) must obtain verification from the Higher Education Advisory of the Iranian Embassy in Ottawa that their specific degree program (including the campus "branch" where it was taken) has been approved by the "Educational Evaluation Committee for Azad University."
