open/hide/close an award competition
Award competitions start with an email from Graduate Studies with instructions. For competitions in GA3, units who wish to participate have the option of setting the competition status to:
Open: students can use Search Awards to find and can apply
Hidden: students cannot see/apply, staff use Search Awards to create/initiate applications
Closed: competition will no longer show in Search Awards.

Public Facing pages:
In GA3 on the Competition Setup tab, find the competition in the list and click edit
- Read the information under Description and/or read the attached memo
- Change any deadlines, if applicable
- Include or exclude awards, as desired
- Change the competition status to Open, Hidden or Closed
- Click the Publish box and click save
Notes:
- Cannot find the award on the Award Search Tab? check the Competition Setup tab to ensure that the competition status is set Open or Hidden, the award is included and the publish box was checked and saved.
- Some competitions are set to Hidden and cannot be changed; you need to initiate applications for these awards.
- Some awards have the status of Nomination only; students cannot apply for these awards. You will need to initiate applications for these awards as well. For certain donor awards, you can decide to change this - contact gradawards@sfu.ca to inquire.
