read/investigate a Slate fraud report
The Slate Fraud Report is designed to help identify potential problems, some of which may require more investigation.
Do not deny applications based on a fraud report alone.
This page outlines how the fraud report works and how to investigate any issues further.

How the Fraud Report works
A Fraud Report displays items identified by the system as potentially fraudulent. This report will show/be clickable on the left menu when a user is inside an admission application. This report is viewable by any user with access to The Reader (GPA, GPC and reviewers/readers).
For example, you may see a Fraud Report if:
a referee submits from the same IP address as the applicant
2 or more referees submit from the same IP address
How to investigate a Fraud Report
Slate's recommendation is to use the report as a data point and act accordingly. For example, if an application was flagged because it is 'the same physical' computer used by the applicant and a referee, you may wish to look at other data points for an explanation - perhaps the applicant works at the same company as the referee and it's a shared device for professional purposes.
In addition, many countries have social/political unrest resulting in restrictions on internet access; because of this, individuals are using VPNs and other virtual networks to circumvent these restrictions.

Our committee is currently reviewing your admission application. Our system shows that your reference letters were submitted using the same computer you had used for creating your application. We would like to ask if you could provide information on how your references were submitted.
Notes
- The Fraud Report is accessed inside an admission application, on the left navigation menu.
- If the Fraud Report is grey and not clickable, no problems have been detected.
