How to Help Students Navigate the APR

The section below has useful text that can be used to introduce/assist students. Note that this information is not on the student section of the Graduate Studies website.
The Academic Progress Report (APR) is a tool that tracks the requirements and policies that students must satisfy in order to graduate. As a student progresses towards graduation, the report will show which university and specific program requirements have been satisfied and which ones are still outstanding. The report also shows which courses have been used, or could be used, to satisfy graduation requirements.
In progress courses
The report assumes that the student will successfully complete any course(s) in which they are currently enrolled (in progress) and will count these courses towards completion.
Capstone courses
If the student is enrolled in capstone courses (e.g. thesis, project, extended essays), the requirement will display 'Satisfied' even though the course is still in progress.
After the student logs in to the Student Information System (sims.sfu.ca), they can navigate to the report from the Student Center using one of three possible paths.
